Our Story

Alefiya is an artist based in Karachi, Pakistan. She holds a degree in fine arts with distinction from Karachi School of art. Her major subjects were Mughal      miniature painting and print making.

Traditionalist to the core and for her passion to learn more about traditional arts she did a post-graduation diploma in Traditional Islamic arts from VM Centre of Traditional Arts (Karachi centre of Prince’s School of Art, London). She secured first position in the program.

Alefiya believes her skill and creativity got a golden touch of knowledge and understanding of Traditional arts. Her art is inspired by Islamic arts and architecture of Mamluk, Safavid, Fatimid and Mughal era.

A participant in multiple national and international exhibitions and Conducting workshops in-person and online she finds sharing her knowledge fuel for her creativity.

As an artist Alefiya’s main subject of interests are Islamic illumination painting , Islamic geometry and miniature painting.

Alefiya practices traditional methods. From creating own paints from natural pigments extracted from semi-precious stones, minerals, plants and animals to making Shell gold from pure gold leaves.

She aims to revive the traditional Islamic arts so they may be recognized and celebrated today, as they were in the past.

The Muslim artist, by his very Islam, his ‘surrender’ to the Divine Law, is always aware of the fact that it is not he who produces or invents beauty, but a work art is beautiful to the degree that it obeys the cosmic order and therefore reflects universal beauty.
