The pattern analysis of the Dome of Sheikh lotfollah mosque, Isfahan. A 17th century Safavid Mosque. This was exclusively used by Females. The cupola shaped dome has 289 shamsas or cusps shape in it Which is the abjad value of Al Rahim (the merciful) which has root connections with word ‘Womb’ (Rahim in arabic) . ‘Lotf’ relates to gentleness.

The construction process of the pattern from origin circle to the creation of layers of Cusps to infinite. Everything symbolizes the state of being mother. Her journey from nothingness to whole.
